Reverend Stuart Vogel a Presbyterian minister & port chaplain, who completed a PhD in Auckland in translation studies, focusing on the translation
of the Bible into Southern Min.

He has written an article on the role of native
assistants in the Union and Southern Min Versions in theJournal of the Royal
Asiatic Societyand published an article in the book The
Mandarin Chinese Version: A Classic Chinese Biblical Translation and in Christian Muslim Relations: A Bibliographical History.

His book Rich
Treasure in Alien Soil-Chinese, Churches, and Poll Tax in Aotearoa-New Zealandwill be published in 2025.

He has lived in Taiwan
and is part-time minister of the Auckland Taiwanese Presbyterian Church.
