About the Author

Moira Wairama is a storyteller, playwright, poet and children's book author. Her first play, Questions, won a Fringe New Works award in 1999, before being adapted for TV and winning a 2000 Qantas Media Award. Her picture book The Puppet Box won the 2006 Storylines Joy Cowley Award, and was recognised as a 2008 Storylines Notable Picture Book. Her book The Taniwha of Wellington Harbour was also recognised as a Storylines Notable Non Fiction Book for 2012. Moira and her partner Tony Hopkins also perform stories throughout New Zealand as Soul Food Tellers. Her book Nani Jo me ngā Mokopuna Porohīanga is a 2024 finalist in the New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults.
