In the first in the series, ' Nurses in Training,' we meet Tina from a middle class background, Sally from a wealthy family, and Hine, part Maori from NZ. They become firm friends, sharing experiences and romances, after a slightly rocky start. The second, 'Nurses at Large,' takes Hine and Tina by ship to New Zealand to seek Hine's small son, who had been looked after by her family. Here they both find romance and Tina falls in love with the country and David Robb. In 'Nurses in New Zealand,' Hine is happily settled but Tina and her wild Scotsman have a rocky relationship which takes them to England and Scotland before a dramatic conclusion.
