The book shows you how to get all the benefits from yoga without having to get up and down off the floor so is great for anyone worried about falling. The book describes the benefits of chair yoga (e.g. increasing circulation, increasing joint flexibility, improving posture and balance, improving digestion, reducing high blood pressure, reducing stress and anxiety and improving overall health and wellbeing). The book is organised by body part e.g. there is yoga for a healthy heart such as chest openers and foods to nourish the heart such as antioxidant rich avocados and The Mediterranean diet. There are chapters on nourishing the eyes, every joint in the body from the fingers to the toes, the spine, heart, lungs, digestive system, brain, bones and liver with yoga and foods to nourish each body part. There are clear step by step instructions of how to do the yoga moves, when to breathe in and out plus photographs and benefits of each posture. There is a chapter on meditation and tips on how to meditate and benefits of meditation such as reducing pain and stress and generating positive feelings and kindness. The book includes healthy recipes and specific nutrient needs for older adults and also includes sample lesson plans.

BSc from Aston University, UK, 1992 Diploma in Nutrition 2012, Wellpark College, Grey Lynn (Award for top nutrition student) Diploma in Yoga 2014, Wellpark College, Grey Lynn Owner of nutrition clinic "The Food Pharmacy" www.thefoodpharmacy.co.nz in Devonport, Auckland Teaches chair yoga to seniors in retirement villages, community halls and private homes and spent many years teaching at AUT and at the MS Society. Has specialized in senior health for the past 8 years.
