Between 2010-2016, five destructive earthquake hit Christchurch, New Zealand. On 22 February 2011, one destroyed the city, killing 185 people. Hundreds suffered lifelong injuries. Although over 95% of properties were fully insured, tens of thousands of insurance claims were mismanaged. A decade later, thousands of 650,000 damaged homes are still to be properly repaired or rebuilt and many land claims are still to be settled. This is a deeply personal account of one, This deeply personal account follows one family, one home and one insurance claim during and after the Christchurch earthquakes 2010-2021. Brenda Greene was born in Auckland, New Zealand and moved to Christchurch in 2003 where she worked for local, regional and national government in education, technical and policy roles.
