Jacqui and Scott have opened their marriage onto uncharted territories. As Axle, their son, makes new friends at a new school, they nudge him along a more moderate course. Skewering the best and worst of Wellington’s leafy middle classes, the novel features public servants with varying degrees of integrity, the precocious students of Wellington High and a foreign lover at the tail end of a working holiday visa.
