This delightful children's book is written and illustrated by P.G.Rob [ an award winning illustrator]with whole page traditionally styled watercolour illustrations. This book is the French edition. The first book in a series about Captain Bear and his crew of Serge Stoat, Emil and Elodie, brother and sister carthorses who live and work on board their sturdy canalboat, the Marie Grace. Set in an imaginary landscape inhabited by animal families who live near a sparkling river, the Captain and crew [Commandant Ours in French] carry cargo up and down the river and its tributaries. Today the Postmouse arrives with a letter from the Pond-Willowing Band, asking to be taken to the Music Festival in another village. When Serge and Elodie ride into Pond -Willowing to get supplies for the journey, they meet young Michel Marmot who has disturbing news. A group of weasels have raided the Music Festival and taken many goods away. Captain Bear calls a meeting and, with the Band's help, they decide on a rescue mission. An adventure begins! The book is 32 pages long and for reading aloud to younger children or to be read by able young readers.
