Jennifer Somervell grew up in a story-telling family. After a career as a horticulturalist and teacher of horticulture and writing and learning skills, she began writing the award-winning Tales From the Farm picture book series drawn from her childhood adventures growing up on a New Zealand farm in the 1970s. The Flight of my Life is the 7th book of the series with her sister Margery Fern as illustrator. Jennifer has also published two fictional picture books under Landing Lights Press, A Baa-rilliant Adventure and Curly Cat. Her eight books have all won first place awards in the Purple Dragonfly Book Awards for excellence in children’s literature.
