Hawke's Bay has a remarkable history, brief by world standards, yet filled with pace and life. This revised and updated edition of Matthew Wright's illustrated history covers the broad sweep of Hawke's Bay's past, telling the tale of people from the Māori settlement through Hawke's Bay's rumbustious settler era, the highs and lows of the twentieth century with
its wars, depressions and booms, and the social transformations and crises of the twenty-first century. Profuse illustrations, including historic original colour photos published here for the first time, bring that past to life.
