Chile Bird is based on the true story of a Northern Royal Albatross. The story follows the typical life cycle of the bird - but this story differs as the bird is rescued by a fisherman near Chile and is cared for by the children in a small fishing village (Duao). Chile Bird, as she is then known, returns to the life of a wild seabird, facing other hazards at sea, before returning home to find a partner and the next stage in her life. Two pages of extra facts about Albatross at the back of the book extend its usefulness for those who want more information.
