About the Author

Moemoana Safa'ato'a Schwenke is a proud daughter and custodian of Samoa and the Pacific Islands. An artist, dancer, environmental advocate, writer, director, and tutor at Matavai Pacific Cultural Arts Centre, Moemoana is deeply committed to preserving and promoting Samoan and Pacific culture. As Miss Samoa (2023-2024) and Miss Pacific Islands (2024-2025), she inspired and engaged thousands of youth across Samoa, teaching Siva Afi and Siva Samoa, while empowering the next generation to use their unique talents and cultural
strengths to serve and protect their islands and communities. Raised in a family devoted to cultural preservation, Moemoana believes that our culture is our superpower and passionately advocates for youth, performing arts, education and climate justice across the Pacific and beyond.
