The WHO has identified a serious outbreak of Alta Stultitia, or, Deep Stupidity that may become a Pandemic. Coincidentally, Dimple Potts wins the seat of Peapod in Auckland, New Zealand. The PM hopes she can side-line him but alas, Pott's pronouncement that he agrees with the view of middle-aged men everywhere, that it is better to nuke the Moon as a precaution against it falling to Earth, attracts the attention of the American military. Soon, Potts finds himself a 'player,' in the International Nuclear Validation Festival instigated by the Pentagon. Meanwhile, he is gulled by the unscrupulous Corker Pritchard into believing that he, Potts, is the founder of the global manufacturer of the 'Brainee' pills that purport to reverse the obvious signs of stupidity. The Moon will be nuked. A barren-lands caribou will play its part, and unexpectedly, the fate of the world is in the hands of Hank Simmons.
