Phil Gifford is the first person to be twice voted New Zealand Sports Journalist of the Year.He has reported on every Rugby World Cup since 1987, and on four Commonwealth and one Olympic Games.In 1973 he invented the satirical rugby character 'Loosehead Len', who ran in print for 32 years.As a breakfast radio host at Radio Hauraki, 91ZM, and More FM, he has won two Australasian and 14 New Zealand radio awards.Smithy is his 29th book.
