Book 1 of The Children’s Gardening Series for children aged 7-12yrs, about children who live in the same neighbourhood and have adventures together. Each child has a gardening project they are responsible for, as well as experiencing a life challenge congruent with their personality, which other people in the neighbourhood help them overcome. Tommy’s parents think a tomato growing project will help Tommy become more confident, but they do not realise the extent to which it will grow! Tommy and his friends have so many tomatoes that they have to sell them at the market. Tommy gets angry with his cousin Arnold and wants to hit him but soon learns that violence is inappropriate and why. All the hard work the children have put into growing the tomatoes may be in vain when a thief steals their money at the market. Will the children give up? Or will they go back to the market to catch the thief?
