4th Floor Journal: Reawakened, revived, refreshed

After a four-year hiatus, the 4th Floor Journal is being re-launched! Under the theme of ‘Renewal’, local writers explore beginnings and endings, quiet moments and new ways of seeing, nostalgia and hope. This issue will be available from 22nd October; free, online and accessible.

Guest edited by celebrated poet Joanna Cho, a Whitireia graduate, this issue welcomes back previous contributors, such as Mary Cresswell, Erin Donohue and Olivia Aroha Giles, as well as introducing a diverse range of fresh voices.

The journal is edited and produced by students of the Whitireia Publishing Programme. Until its temporary closure, 4th Floor was one of New Zealand’s longest-running online journals. It continues to be an important part of the country’s publishing ecosystem, annually publishing work created by students and individuals with a connection to the Whitireia Creative Writing Programme.

This programme has a remarkable legacy and reputation in Aotearoa’s writing community, and many of the graduates are top creative writers in our country.

Past issues of the 4th Floor Journal – all available online – include work from Pip Adam, Tusiata Avia, Hinemoana Baker, Anna Jackson, Tina Makereti, Apirana Taylor and more.
