Bookshops around the country are celebrating Bookshop Day on October 12 with special events and activities.

The day is a celebration of the cultural importance of books, bookshops, and booksellers: the people who bring the two together.

Run by the Booksellers Association of New Zealand, the first New Zealand Bookshop Day was celebrated in 2015. A day for book lovers to celebrate local bookshops, Bookshop Day is a nationwide celebration of all bookstores.
