The Coalition for Books, with support from the Mātātuhi Foundation, is launching a new annual promotion in 2025 to showcase and promote new local authors of adult fiction and non-fiction.

New Voices of Aotearoa, launching mid 2025, is an annual promotion aimed at identifying, nurturing and increasing readership for brilliant emerging writing talent.

Each year, a panel of experts – writers, booksellers, publishers, reviewers and librarians – will be convened to select 10 New Voices of Aotearoa. The New Voices list will be announced annually in late June and will be amplified through a publicity campaign and through promotional collaboration with booksellers, libraries and festivals.
